Municipal Administration of Tijuana opens collection centers for those affected by Hurricane Otis

Both Mayor Montserrat Caballero as well as the heads of the secretariats will donate a month of their salary for victims of Hurricane Otis

The Municipal Administration of Tijuana has informed the community that facilities at the Municipal Palace, as well as the ones in the city's delegations, will be enabled as collection centers in order to support the people affected by Hurricane Otis in the state of Guerrero, especially in Acapulco.

During the weekly broadcast of "Despierta la Esperanza", mayor Montserrat Caballero Ramírez called on the Tijuana community to contribute to the network of aid and donations with products such as non-perishable food, bottled water, personal hygiene products, infant formula, and diapers.

"Nature has forgiven us Tijuana natives many times, but this time, it has affected the people in Acapulco, and as Mexicans, we have the obligation to help. Nobody has everything to give, but anyone can contribute a kilogram of beans, diapers, everything will be welcomed," she said.

Besides opening these collection centers, which will operate together with the Secretariat of National Defense and the state government to ensure that the collected items reach their destination, Mayor Monserrat announced an economic donation in order to support those affected in Acapulco.

Caballero Ramírez stated that after holding a meeting with the cabinet they agreed that both the mayor and the heads of the secretariats will donate one month of their salary in a transparent manner.

The employees of the 24th Municipal Administration will also be joining this cause, providing non-perishable items at collection centers in order to begin helping from home while inviting all sectors to contribute.

"It is important to help today the people of Guerrero, Tijuana is united with our brothers in Guerrero," the mayor said.

Among the items that people can donate for victims of Hurricane Otis in Guerrero there are: bags of rice, beans, lentils, sugar, pasta or broth packages, canned tuna, mayo, bottled water, milk powder, soap, personal hygiene items, and diapers.
